I Heart Faces # 9 - Hilarious Outtakes

Here are my hilarious outtakes for the weekly photo contest. The ones I thought of immediately were of my friend's son right after he fell into a pile of sand. I had been taking pictures at our church softball game and as we were both running to help him I said, "Wait! Don't wipe his face, I want to get a picture." The first one was taken while he was still unsure of what had happened to him and the next he was starting to ham it up for the camera.

In this photo I was being attacked by a baby holding one of those glow sticks. One minute he was posing for a sweet picture and the next thing I know he attacks. It is one of my favorite pictures.

While this photo doesn't have a human face, it cracks me up. It probably won't qualify for the contest but I couldn't resist adding the squirrel that gave me the side eye!!!

Thanks for checking in with me. Have a great week.

Camera Story

You may be wondering why we've had so much snow this year, right? Well, you can blame me and my new camera. Here's how it all began.

January 2009-researched cameras, got overwhelmed and decided to wait until later to choose.

April - May 2009- took a photography class to learn about digital SLR choices, loved the class and decided I probably wanted a Nikon. I also found out that my son had to have his wisdom teeth removed immediately as they threatened to undo all of his orthodontic work. This child did not get a tooth in his head until he was over 8 months old, we had to pull six baby teeth when he was 12 because he was late losing them and we had to get the orthodontic work started. So why in the world his wisdom teeth came in early at 16, I don't know. I digress, but it is important to remember that me even thinking about a new camera can alter normal life and weather patterns.

July- wisdom teeth removed and therefore no money for a new camera. The good news is I learned a lot in photography class and I can do some great things with my point and shoot camera, which I still love by the way.

October - December 2009 - sorta researched cameras, checked out websites, watched for sale patterns and decided on my top three choices.

January 2010- got serious and finalized camera budget. Nikon is the brand, D3000 is what I will settle for, D5000 is my wish and D90 if I'm dreaming big. Went out to play with cameras in the store.

February 2010 - convinced myself that this camera is a good investment and reminded myself that my beloved point and shoot really is on its last leg. Really, it is. I have serious focusing issues and it likes to override to sport mode on just about every setting. If I don't do it now, something will come up and then I won't have a camera at all.

February 9th, da tata da ordered my new D5000 with two lenses from B&H photo. Initially they said the camera would be delivered on the 12th. Great! I would have the whole weekend to play. When the order shipped it had a delivery date of the 11th. How lucky could I be??? My package made it into the UPS warehouse in Harrisburg, PA right before the mid atlantic states got hammered by blizzard # 1. I waited hoping that UPS would just plow through all of that snow. Nope. Three days my camera sat in the snow. Finally, my camera left Pennsylvania and it was on its way to me! Nope. It only made it to Maryland, where it sat for two more days in blizzard # 2. On Feb. 14th it started making its way to me and fast. It left Maryland 2:00pm, arrived in Columbia, SC, sent to final destination and put on the delivery truck in less than 24 hours. Thanks UPS and I really did understand the whole blizzard, interstates closed and it probably wasn't safe for you to drive thingy.

Monday, Feb. 15th....delivery day!!! Since I can't wait another minute and don't want to get home to find one of those sticky notes that says "Sorry we missed you, we will try to deliver tomorrow". I must stay home from work. Luckily, my boss is a camera freak and totally understands and I'm really not that busy so it's totally cool. Wait....I hear a truck....shoot it's trash day. Garbage trucks drive by until about 3:00. Wait....I hear a truck...darn school bus. Wait....in the meantime have heard that UPS is really behind on deliveries.....almost 6:30pm (deliveries might stop at 7pm) Yikes!!!! Can't miss work Tues. or Wed. decide to go walk the dog. I run into the UPS guy on the walk, almost hugged him, but decided to just say thanks.

Yay! Yay! Yay!

For now, it is either picture awesomeness or picture blurriness as I learn to operate my new Nikon D5000 but I'm lovin' every minute of it!

I Heart Faces # 8. I'm blogging so I can enter photo contests!

I wanted to enter a photo contest at I ♥ Faces so I am now a sometimes blogger. I don't understand the blogging world yet--- but I have several blogs that I enjoy reading so here's hoping mine will be interesting.

"Hands on Fun" is the theme for week 8 and I really love this picture of my son's hands in his grandmother's hands as they harvest her garden.
